Current state and problem
The Czech division of one of the largest confectionery manufacturers started using electronic document interchange in 2002, becoming one of the pioneers of EDI communication within the entire Mondelēz group and ahead of the Western European markets. The specifics of trading partners were one of the reasons why it was difficult for Mondelēz to implement mutual document interchange. So they decided to leave the involvement of new partners to a third party that would help them solve these specifics.
In addition to involving partners, however, the document exchange process itself needed to be overseen. Addressing the requirements of all business partners required several full-time hours, which was both time-consuming and financially demanding for Mondelēz. Furthermore, all subsequent processes were taking longer.
Proposed solution
The Czech leader in the chocolate and biscuit market has been exchanging business documents with partners via ORiON EDI since 2009. This year, Mondelēz, due to dissatisfaction with the then EDI provider, launched a tender, in which GRiT was the winner. Over the years of working together with GRiT, Mondelēz praises the involvement of new partners, even those for whom standard EDI cannot be used. GRiT comes up with hybrid solutions and is a partner of Mondelēz. In the last 5 years alone, they have implemented approximately 40 Czech and Slovak customers together.
The number of errors in document processing has also been significantly eliminated, saving Mondelēz time and money. The thousands of messages that flow to and from Mondelēz every month are also used for internal analyses. Based on these, Mondelēz determines which other processes in the company could be automated. Mondelēz's vision continues to focus on further simplifying processes so that everything from order receipt to final invoicing can be done without human intervention.
Resulting changes
“Before GRiT, we worked with another EDI provider. GRiT's approach has been more flexible, more open from the start, and we really appreciate the quick responses to our suggestions. Colleagues from other countries who have EDI from international providers face problems that we don't have to deal with at all.“
