Current state and problem

Before implementing the WMS system, the barefoot shoe e-shop Bosonožka handled most of its warehouse processes using pencil and paper. When receiving goods, employees placed invoices on the shoes they had delivered and manually checked whether the number of shoes matched. They then moved to the computer with the invoices and started editing the warehouse cards. The whole process was time-consuming and manual transcription led to many errors, such as putting the wrong product in stock or entering the wrong product name.

Dispatching goods was also complicated. Every morning, employees printed out a list of newly arrived orders, and those who knew the warehouse started picking. However, the problem arose when the head warehouse worker or a few people from the administration fell ill - they were the only ones who carried the warehouse map in their heads. As a result, the warehouse's efficiency decreased and there were frequent product substitutions and complaints.

Proposed solution

Therefore, in the spring of 2022, the Brno-based company, based on the auditor's recommendation, inquired about GRiT and the LOKiA WMS warehouse system. Compared to other systems, they liked that the LOKiA system was clear and intuitive and could be connected to the Shoptet e-shop solution.

The introduction of the WMS system in Bosonožka has significantly improved the efficiency of receiving and processing orders. Thanks to automatic scanning of barcodes during storage, employees no longer have to manually enter data into the computer. The system automatically stores items and they appear on the e-shop faster. However, the biggest benefit is the significant acceleration of returns and exchanges of goods, which barefoot shoe e-shops often struggle with. Thanks to the new system, returns are placed on the returns shelf and the system then guides warehouse workers where to look for them in the event of another order. The implementation of the WMS system has also significantly accelerated inventory, which can now be done in just 2 days instead of a month, as was the case before.
