ISDOC

ISDOC is a format used by some Czech information systems for structured data exchange in the case of electronic invoicing. Technically, it is an XML format signed with an electronic signature with a firmly defined data structure. It typically has the extension ".isdoc" or ".isdocx" with attachments. The disadvantage is that it does not allow automated import into economic systems. The advantage of ISDOC is that the invoice can be displayed using the ISDOC Reader, which is freely downloadable.

It is therefore one of the usable formats for electronic structured data interchange ( EDI ), but it has its limitations. It can only be used for the electronic invoicing process (received and issued invoices). It is therefore not a full-fledged process EDI that covers the entire business and logistics process (in addition to invoices, these include mainly orders, delivery notes, receipts, etc.). For this reason, it has only limited use in sectors where the fulfillment is on invoices for the delivery of goods. On the contrary, it is recommended especially for the service segment, where, for example, invoices are invoiced based on framework contracts and there is no need for links to other documents.

The ISDOC (Information System Document) format was created in 2008 as an activity of ICT Unie, a professional association of Czech ICT suppliers. In 2014, version 6.0 was created, which allows its use in the case of e-invoicing to state administration bodies in public procurement thanks to the expansion of specific items used in the public sector.
