The message specifies the details of the goods to be delivered according to the terms agreed between the buyer and the supplier. The message should always be sent before the physical delivery of the goods to enable the recipient to obtain accurate information about the goods to be delivered (quantity, packaging method, etc.) and thus enable him to prepare in time for the physical receipt of the goods. What other benefits does the DESADV report have for subscribers?

• Information about batches and expiration dates of goods can help record information necessary for traceability of goods in the distribution chain.
• Supplier discipline can be better controlled (e.g., approving in advance whether a larger quantity than ordered can be received).
• It can contribute to smoother supply by ensuring substitutes in a timely manner, although only to a limited extent due to the short lead time before the actual delivery.

At the same time, information about the prices of goods can also be implemented in the DESADV message. This way, the customer has information about the sales price before the invoice arrives and can resolve any differences with the order.
