Novocasing supplies Žabka to food thanks to EDI

Thanks to our ORiON EDI, the Slovak company Novocasing supplies Žabka to the grocery store. Before they started working with Žabka, they had to make do with e-mails for orders. However, with the arrival of Žabka, the way of working had to change.

Current state and problem

The Slovak company NOVOCASING NITRA, s. r. o., belonging to the Tami – Tatranské mlékárny group, is mainly engaged in gastro supply and food delivery. In cooperation with the Žabka store network, it acts exclusively as a logistics provider.

Before they started working with the Žabka chain of stores, they only supplied meat and dairy products, for which they had to order via email. However, with the arrival of Žabka and thousands of new items, the way they worked had to change.

Proposed solution

Orders for goods from Žabka stores often take up ten A4 pages and contain 300 or 400 items. If someone on the supplier side were to manually retype this data into the company system, they would spend an entire day on a single order. The start of cooperation with Žabka was the impetus that convinced NOVOCASING to deploy EDI.


NOVOCASING uses the POHODA accounting system, which can be connected to ORiON EDI using an integration bridge. Each order from Žabka in EDI format is automatically loaded into the POHODA system, where it can be immediately processed – accepted, approved and immediately sent as an EDI order to suppliers, or uploaded to barcode readers for stock removal purposes.


EDI itself helps significantly thanks to the immediate receipt of the order into the accounting system. Its efficiency is also increased by the GLN - global location number - which is assigned to companies and their branches by the international organization GS1.

Resulting changes

  • After deploying the ORiON EDI solution, NOVOCASING quickly communicates with suppliers and customers.
  • ORiON EDI could be connected to the POHODA accounting system and every order from Žabka in EDI format would be automatically loaded into this system.
  • Overall, the procedure for receiving and picking goods has been fine-tuned and there are no mix-ups.
  • ORiON EDI has brought order to our processes, we used to be able to go to negative warehouses, now we have to do it right. I evaluate it positively in connection with the growth in the number of orders and items of goods.
