E-shop Aktin increased the efficiency of logistics processes

Read how we helped Aktin deploy a WMS and increase the efficiency of their logistics processes.

Current state and problem

The Aktin company has been successfully operating an online store of the same name since 2011, which brings in new customers every year. Due to their increasing number, but also the increasing number of orders, it was necessary to make the work in the warehouse more efficient. Therefore, addressing was introduced in the warehouse, i.e. drawing and marking each warehouse position, and the warehouse workers used radio frequency readers to handle the goods.

However, even these steps did not completely eliminate the warehouse problems that continued to arise, mainly due to instructions given to warehouse workers on paper. There were also delays in warehouse workers, their lengthy training and integration of seasonal workers, and priority management, which was completely dependent on the warehouse manager, was also hampered. Thus, the company management decided to invest in more efficient, faster and more accurate logistics by introducing a managed warehouse (WMS – Warehouse Management System).

Proposed solution

The deployment of the LOKiA WMS system had an immediate impact on reducing labor in the warehouse, while at the same time increasing the accuracy and clarity of all warehouse processes. This increased work productivity. A team of employees, which is one quarter smaller, is able to handle a larger volume of work. During the first 3 months of the system deployment, over 100 thousand orders were picked by Aktin with the help of LOKiA WMS, 35 thousand shipments were shipped to customers , and this volume continued to increase in the following period. The greatest benefit was the absolute overview of all goods, plotted in a graphic map, which prevents warehouse workers from picking orders incorrectly.

Resulting changes

  • After implementing LOKiA WMS, the paper-managed and insufficiently efficient warehouse changed to a modern and economically efficient warehouse that processed orders from hundreds of customers daily.
  • The WMS deployment helped Aktin grow faster. This allowed Aktin to invest in its own WMS solution, as they wanted to manage their services in-house.
  • The cooperation was mutually rewarding. LOKiA helped Aktin reduce costs and increase profits, and thanks to Aktin, LOKiA has many new features that are used by other satisfied clients.
  • An extraordinary test for us was the end of the year, when the volume of shipments was many times higher, but with the support of the system, we had no problems flexibly meeting the demands of stores or direct customers.
