Inventory (total, continuous) is a warehouse process that is important for maintaining order in the warehouse. Continuous inventory is most often used to detect discrepancies in the status of a given warehouse item of goods or is carried out on items from a certain date of receipt, expiration or on a selected part of the warehouse. For such an inventory, we need the support of a warehouse system. The system can also create inventory plans focused on problematic items or items significant in terms of turnover. Total inventory is carried out regularly, usually once a year, or as an extraordinary one. A paperless process using an online reader connected to the warehouse system helps to speed up the inventory and eliminates errors.
Inventory can also be done in the form of blind or non-blind inventory. In non-blind inventory, the warehouse system informs the user about what inventory should currently be in the bin. In blind inventory, the user enters the goods according to what they physically find, completely independent of the current information stored in the warehouse management software (WMS).
