It is an 18-digit number for identifying a logistic unit . The SSCC number is "entered" into a GS1-128 (formerly EAN-128) barcode, from which it can be easily read by a scanner. It is used to identify a specific logistic unit during the handling and passage of goods through the supply chain.
The use of SSCC codes significantly speeds up the receipt of goods into the warehouse, as you can receive an entire pallet with literally a single "beep" of the barcode reader.
