TZ – More than 80 % wholesale customers of ASSA ABLOY are now connected by electronic data interchange thanks to Orion4. June 2012
Brno, 29th May 2012 – More than 80% of wholesale customer now exchange their trading data electronically with ASSA ABLOY, a prominent producer of door lock systems such as FAB, Abloy or Yale. This has been enabled by the implementation of electronic data interchange (EDI), realized by CCV Information systems. This development showcases the high degree of EDI penetration among retail chains and DIY shops, which currently make use of more than a dozen types of different electronic messages (documents) in their communication.
Developing EDI solutions for large and small customers
ASSA ALOY has followed up on its positive experience with comprehensive electronic interchange of trading data with other retailers, by deciding to implement all its customers into EDI as part of it further efforts to enhance trading relations. In the first phase of the project, they approached 35 wholesale customers, 80% of which have opted for electronic interchange, bringing them a significant reduction in fixed costs resulting from the use of paperless processes. This development has showcased the high level of EDI penetration, which has become a de-facto norm for document interchange between large trading partners. The second phase of the project will see ASSA ABLOY approaching more of its customers with the proposition to implement EDI in their systems.
The customers have opted for a comprehensive service with procedural advantages
CCV Information systems has been selected as the provider of the entire solution for ASSA ABLOY, approaching selected partners on its behalf and offering large-scale customers one of two options of integrating EDI communication. The first option is to deal with the communication via the clearing central EDI Orion, which allows direct integration with the company’s ERP system; the second was a web-based solution, in cases where the company’s system was unsuitable for integration.

EDI implementation and product data management all-in-one

Data interchange in Orion
The solution was provided comprehensively, from the initial analysis to consulting with the individual information systems’ providers, all carried out by CCV Information systems. The clearing centre Orion, which transcribes the messages, distributes them among trading partners and also archives them electronically in a secure and reliable manner, remains the cornerstone of the solution. Its services are currently used by more than a 1000 companies, and it processes more than 2 million messages every month.
