A press conference of the Hop growers' union in cooperation with CCV Information systems brought news about the use of bar codes and Hop garden registry in this year's hop harvest. Hop producers more and more often communicate with the relevant administration in electronic form rather than paper documents. Such progress has been enabled thanks to the electronic registry, which constitutes a part of the Farmers' Portal application administered by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic.
The use of the Hop gardens' registry increases significantly year after year. According to a report available to CCV Information systems - a technical provider of the specialized registries for the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic - last year 70,3% of all hop producers used the registry to submit required documents. Among the 30 biggest hop producers, the share is 83,3%. Further growth of the popularity of electronic communication is expected again this year. The Hop garden register allows the hop producer to access all the data the administration holds about them.
Hop growers have submitted twice as many Producer's declarations electronically as compared to last year
The hop growers have submitted more than 1200 electronic copies of the Producer's declaration last year. That is twice as many as last year. 26% of all official documentation required from the domestic hop growers was thus transmitted electronically.
The increasing popularity of information technologies among hop growers is also supported by the new system of hop certification. It replaced the outdated paper labels in plastic casings with self-adhesive bar code labels, which contain all the data required for certification. The bar code itself enables a fast access to the certification information system and to further process the data electronically.
